God is the creator of all things, including the gift of communication through language. Language allows for the effective communication of God, his word, and his creation. It is also a means by which we welcome the stranger and exercise hospitality.
Language transcends national boundaries, colour, and race. French is one of Canada’s two official languages and the Quebecois culture is a unique and distinct one. As responsible citizens of Canada we need to teach and model an appreciation of and respect for our rich French Canadian heritage. It is important for young people to value our French heritage, appreciate francophone cultures and endeavour to excel in the French language. We start mild instruction in grade 1 and then we switch to the AIMS French program in grade 4. We also augment that curriculum in grades 7 and 8 with work on verb conjugation, tenses, and grammar.
